What are the best nightclubs in town?There are about 5 nightclubs in the town. TJs is in the town centre opposite the Arndale Centre and plays house and garage. Atlantis is the big club at the end of the pier, playing all the hits. It has theme nights and performances. The other main club in the town is Kings. Other clubs come and go...... Back

What is there for children in Eastbourne?There are plenty of things for children in the town. Fort Fun and Rocky's is a great indoor and outdoor play centre for children from 1 up to 12 or 13 years old. Treasure Island is a similar fun adventure place with water. The Sovereign Centre is the main leisure centre in Eastbourne with a fun pool and baby pool. All three are close to each other on the seafront east of the pier. Out of town there is Drusillas Zoo Park which houses many farm and more exotic animals. Great for children. There is also Seven Sisters Sheep Centre, Middle Farm and Knockhatch. How do I get to Beachy Head?Beachy Head is west of Eastbourne on the A259 towards Brighton. You can get there by car or by bus in the summer months. You can also walk to the foot of the cliffs along the seashore being careful to be aware of the tide times. Plus you can get a boat during the summer months to take you on a tour around the lighthouse at the foot of the cliffs. Back

Where is the Railway Station?The station is at the bottom end of Terminus Road and Grove Road in the town centre. Trains go to London, Hastings and Brighton. You can then obviously get your connection to anywhere in the country, or abroad. It is only a hour to Ashford International. It is 45 minutes direct to Gatwick Airport and about the same to Newhaven Harbour for ferries to the continent. Back

What is there at the Redoubt Fortress?There is a military museum and there are often concerts and fireworks at the Redoubt Fortress. It is a round Napoleonic fort. Back

Where's the hospital?The hospital is near Rodmill Hill on Kings Drive, in the Hampden Park area of town. Call 01323 417400.....or 999 if you want to get there really quickly and you'd like a free ride. There is also All Saints hospital, The Esperance Private Hospital and Eastbourne Private Psychiatric Clinic. They are all in Meads, but do NOT have Accident and Emergency facilities. Back

What is the Enterprise Centre?The Enterprise centre is next to the railway station. It is a converted railway building and houses more specialist shops and new businesses. There is also a small market outside at the weekends. Back

When is Airbourne?Airbourne is generally held on Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday the week before the bank holiday weekend, each August. So if bank holiday is Monday August 25th, then the last day of Airbourne would be Sunday August 17th. Back

Does Eastbourne have any theatres?Three of the four theatres are very near each other. Devonshire Park Theatre is on Hardwick Road. The Winter Garden is on Compton Street and The Congress is on Carlisle Road. They are within one minute walk of each other. The Royal Hippodrome is at the other end of town on Seaside Road. Are there any parks in the town?Motcombe Park and Gildridge Park are in Old Town. Princes Park is near the Sovereign Centre on the seafront. Hampden Park is in....well it's in Hampden Park really, off Kings Drive by the hospital. There are also plenty of other green areas in the town such as the Western Lawns on the seafront, greenbelt land near langney, recreation grounds off Seaside and of course the south downs. Back

What are the main events in Eastbourne?Eastbourne hosts three major events during the year. The International Ladies Tennis at Devonshire Park is held the week before Wimbledon in June. Airbourne is held at the end of August on the Western Lawns and seafront. The Red Arrows perform as do many other aircraft and display teams. Skate is a fun skating event for all the family held on the seafront east of the pier near the Sovereign Centre, with displays, competitions and stalls. Back

Where is there to do in Eastbourne?If you want to know what there is to do in the town, please visit this page for comprehensive information and links to other resources which will give you a good idea. However, briefly, if you want nightlife there are plenty of pubs and about 5 nightclubs. Atlantis on the pier, TJ's and King in the town centre are the most popular. You have to visit Beachy Head cliffs and see the lighthouse. There seafront has plenty to do for all ages. The pier, of course. Putting greens, crazy golf. Fort Fun and Treasure Island for the children. The bandstand, Redoubt Fortress and Military Museum. The Wish Tower and it's small museum and the Lifeboat Museum. There are plenty of tea shops and stalls along the front. In the summer you can take a boat ride out to see the lighthouse and cliffs or go for a speedboat ride. The promenade is about 5 miles long so there is plenty of walking if you want. There is also the Sovereign Harbour Marina development with its cafes and restaurants. The Arndale Centre has all the usual high street stores and Old Town has lovely antique shops, The Lamb Inn, supposedly the oldest hostelry in Britain and St. Mary's 12th century church. If you are here in August, you should stay for the biggest free airshow in the world, Airbourne and if you are here in June there is the Ladies INternational Tennis at Devonshire Park, where you will also find the new Towner Art Gallery.
